Collaborative Visual Identity for Synergy Lab at Appalachian State University.

Synergy Lab offers a wide array of 2D and 3D printing services. The Synergy Lab caters to art students in the Unviersity seeking to print personal projects or various academic work

Working collaboratively with Chloe M. Cooke, we ceated a visual identity that references the synthesis of physical printing processes and digital elements to emphasize the two facets the print lab works with.

Typography works together to reflect the digital side of the brand. Utilizing monospace type, Synergy Lab portrays trust and security in their voice.

Assets were designed for Synergy Lab that reference the printing process of the lab. Halftones and monochrome photo treatment, registration marks, and color gradients are symbolic of the printing process they offer to students.

Registration marks are purposefully misregistered to allude to the human touch that printing requires; creating harmony between digital and print. Synergy Lab offers a myriad of paper sizes. The paper sizes are used as a brand asset to create posters that showcase student work, highlighting the students that submit work through the lab.

The Logo for Synergy Lab references the print and digital work the lab conduct. The underscore and unconventional counters of the letterforms coincide to reference these two sides of the brand, and how they synthesize to bring the lab to life.
